How satellites are solved
A seat at the target, priced in every decision.
- Target stack Reach the target and you win a seat. Your chips leave play and the rest of the table plays on.
- Prize Value $ What a seat is worth in dollars. Every EV reads in tournament $.
- Chips over the target Choose who shares the excess when somebody reaches the target: everyone dealt in, as the EPT and live events do, or the players in the hand, as GGPoker does.
- Short of the target Each chip is worth its share of a seat. Chips over the target are worth nothing, so a stack close to it stays out of pots it does not need.
- No payouts to type The target and the seat’s value are all a satellite needs.
- Satellite Risk The Risk button on the Solve strip shows what each stack is worth and the risk factor between every pair of seats.

What is a target stack satellite?
A satellite where every player who reaches a chip target wins a seat and leaves with it, such as GGPoker’s Target Stack satellites, the EPT’s win-your-seat events and live milestone satellites.
How does it change the strategy?
Chips short of the target are worth a share of a seat and chips over it are worth nothing. Stacks near the target fold hands they would play for chips.
Who gets the chips over the target?
You choose: everyone dealt in, as the EPT and live events do, or the players in the hand, as GGPoker does.
What about satellites that pay a set number of seats?
Enter one equal prize per seat as the payouts and solve under ICM or Future Game.
Are bounties priced?
No. A satellite pays seats, not bounties.
Does it run on Mac or Linux?
No. HydraSolver is a Windows desktop app: Windows 10 or Server 2016 and newer, 64-bit. You can rent a Windows server from us and connect by Remote Desktop, or study in the browser with HydraViewer.
What does it cost?
